Volleyball Camp

Here are a some pics from AJ's volleyball camp. We are exploring a few new sports to see which she might be interested in. She hates being hot (indoor and water sports are looking good) and she is going to be about a million feet tall, so I think volleyball is a definite possibility. I think this was a good intro, and only a one week commitment, which worked out well.

at breast stroke. She has such a natural
innate stroke. She doesn't always win,
but she ALWAYS looks fabulous. The
speed will come, but the skill is already
there!

Iron (wo)Man

So some of you have heard that I went in for some skeletal improvements on the 11th. I am now officially a robot-human hybrid. Look out–we super humans will outlive all of you mere mortals.

Technically I had some vertebra fused, and it was a bear of a surgery. I laid in semi-consciousness for 5 days in the hospital...I have almost no memory of this photo. But I did get a nice 120 hour nap. So now I am feeling very rested. I should be able to skip several nights of sleep if needed.

Thank you everyone for you support, thoughts, calls, meals, and visits (sorry if I said anything that left you scratching your head...morphine tends to make me wax crazy.)

If pride cometh before the fall...

Happy Birthday to ME!!!

My kids ROCKED the Lake Hills meet!

We had our first meet yesterday, which happened to be my birthday. As a gift to me they killed! AJ won a heat ribbon in backstroke (I'll be posting video later) and Jack (who by the way is the only kid under 6 in his age group) came in 2nd in his backstroke by about 2 inches. It was an awesome day, the host's pool is right on the lake and we played in the lake long after the meet was over.

After the meet we went out to dinner at my favorite restaurant, and went to concert at the Galleria amphitheater where we saw a sunset that would put any Hawaiian postcard to shame. I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, wonderful, terrific birthday or 3 more fun people to spend it with. So far 33 is looking like a really great year!!!

Mt. Bonnell

Austin's Mount Bonnell is one of Austin's oldest tourist attractions being documented as far back as 1850. It is the highest point within Austin City Limits at 785 feet. Mt. Bonnell offers views of Lake Austin and the Pennybacker Bridge as well as wonderful vistas of downtown.

Mt. Bonnell is one of the most romantic locations in Austin, the legend being that Mt. Bonnell was once called Antoinette's Leap, named after a damsel who leaped to her death to avoid capture from Indians that killed her lover, who fought to his death to defend her.

We thought it was beautiful though I was burning with jealousy looking down at all of those fancy lake houses.

Time Trials

The kids had their time trials last week, it's a little practice meet to get the kids' base times, and of course they rocked it. Here are two events:
