Happy Birthday to ME!!!

My kids ROCKED the Lake Hills meet!

We had our first meet yesterday, which happened to be my birthday. As a gift to me they killed! AJ won a heat ribbon in backstroke (I'll be posting video later) and Jack (who by the way is the only kid under 6 in his age group) came in 2nd in his backstroke by about 2 inches. It was an awesome day, the host's pool is right on the lake and we played in the lake long after the meet was over.

After the meet we went out to dinner at my favorite restaurant, and went to concert at the Galleria amphitheater where we saw a sunset that would put any Hawaiian postcard to shame. I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, wonderful, terrific birthday or 3 more fun people to spend it with. So far 33 is looking like a really great year!!!

Mt. Bonnell

Austin's Mount Bonnell is one of Austin's oldest tourist attractions being documented as far back as 1850. It is the highest point within Austin City Limits at 785 feet. Mt. Bonnell offers views of Lake Austin and the Pennybacker Bridge as well as wonderful vistas of downtown.

Mt. Bonnell is one of the most romantic locations in Austin, the legend being that Mt. Bonnell was once called Antoinette's Leap, named after a damsel who leaped to her death to avoid capture from Indians that killed her lover, who fought to his death to defend her.

We thought it was beautiful though I was burning with jealousy looking down at all of those fancy lake houses.

Time Trials

The kids had their time trials last week, it's a little practice meet to get the kids' base times, and of course they rocked it. Here are two events:

Camp Champions 2009

AJ and I attended out 2nd annual Central Texas Girl Scout camp last weekend and here are some pics. It was in gorgeous Marble Falls about an hour east of Austin. It was a lot of fun but disappointing because they closed the lake all day Saturday (the reason is still in dispute, not sure about that one) and AJ was pretty upset. She loved swimming and kayaking last year.

On the plus side they finished a huge water slide that was still under construction last year. She logged some serious sliding hours. We had a great time. It was fun to spend the day with my little girl. They boys had "dude's day" back home and you can check out Brett's twitterings on that. They also had quite and adventure.
